Tapping Resources to Activate Instructional Innovation
Goal: To increase the number of fully prepared bilingual teachers and
English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers in the San Antonio Area through
the collaboration of UTSA and local school districts
Objectives:
Prepare a group of undergraduates and “normalistas” to become
bilingual teachers
Increase the number of secondary content areas teachers with English as
a Second Language Supplemental certification working in middle school
or high school classrooms with English Language Learners.
Prepare individuals holding a B.A. degrees as elementary bilingual or
all level ESL teachers through a Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program.
Requirements:
Complete program in a 24-month period.
Complete 20 hours of field experience in a bilingual/ESL classroom.
Attend cultural events and professional meetings.
Present and attend language seminars.
The award includes the payment of tuition, fees, and a book allowance.
